Eyewitness to evil

This book arrived today from Oxfam via Amazon. It was recommended to me by a fellow blipper, hildarose, and it looks like an intriguing read. Flicking through it when it arrived, as you do, I came upon this sentence at the beginning of chapter 7:

"The conviction that life has a purpose is rooted in every fibre of man, it is a property of the human substance"

I dont't think it will be a conventionally enjoyable read but I am sure it will be a stimulating and poignant experience.
