As we went to Harriet’s twice today I thought this was an appropriate picture.
Things did not go well this morning, but they did get better as the day went on.
Yesterday they changed Mr A’s appointment from 1100 hours to 0850 hours. Getting into Cambridge at that time of day is a nightmare so we decided to use the Park and Ride. However, after waiting in the queue for twenty minutes, someone from the office came and said we might all like to wait inside, it was raining and the nearest bus was the other side of Cambridge; it would be another twenty minutes. If it was the other side of Cambridge we thought it would be more than twenty minutes and this would mean that we would be late so, like many other waiting passengers, we started to walk. We had walked about 200 metres when the bus arrived. If we had gone back we would not have got on this bus as by then there were about 100 people waiting. Minutes later another one arrived, followed very closely by another one. However, the first of the three buses approached Addenbrookes at almost the same time as we did.
We arrived in the clinic with a few minutes to spare and then we waited, and we waited. Mr A’s notes had not arrived; then when they did they were old notes. By 0950 hours they had still not arrived, but the consultant saw us anyway; she was delighted with his progress; I just wish someone would sort his back out.
Things got better after that and we had an early lunch in Harriet’s Tea Rooms, then did some shopping and just before we caught the bus back to the Park and Ride we decided to have another cup of coffee. Where better than Harriet’s where they do gluten-free scones so we also had a cream tea.
Tomorrow we do it all again!
