1942
3 years ago we went to Sicily and whist we were there collected some WWII shell casings from the beach.
We had misplaced them, but they turned up today.
This is a .303" shell casing manufactured in 1942 by Royal Ordnance factory in Radway Green (the RG bit) in Cheshire. It was probably used in a Vickers Machine gun (the VIIIz bit) by the British/Allied forces when invading Sicily in July 1943 in the Bay of Noto which is where we got them by diving down about 3m.
