Book Club

Tonight was my first book club meeting, in a swanky gated community in town (I took this photo in my car). La de dah! We discussed "The Help," a wonderful book I could just barely relate to set during the civil rights movement in Jackson, Mississippi, where black women were trusted to raise white children but considered too "dirty" to even use the household bathroom.

Some of the people in the book club were, for reals, raised in this manner.

It was interesting to hear their differing perspectives and offer my own views, some of which may have been a little startling to them.

I think I'm going to like it a whole lot!
