Gale force winds 106 mph in Stirlingshire

Woke up in the night to fierce gale-force winds and the whole house seemed to shake (we live on a hill). The morning revealed a neighbour’s tree had fallen into our garden and our cherry tree had stopped it doing more damage.
Winds of 160mph were reported in one part of Stirlingshire and it was like nothing I had experienced before.

By lunchtime the storm had abated though it continues to rage across other parts of the country and now there are flood warnings.
