Historic Jalousie Plantation House
This is the main reception area of Sugar Beach Resort. The upper level houses the fanciest restaurant on the property -- a lovely spot to dine as you sit on the veranda and gaze at the view of the Pitons and the Caribbean Sea!
This property used to be a sugar plantation, and this building was the main house. It was named Jalousie. According to one website I consulted, the property has a long history of owners, including Lord Glenconnor, famously known for his friendship with Princess Margaret.
If you look closely at the water in the ornamental pool in the foreground, you will see that it was raining when I took this shot. It was a crazy weather day ... bursts of rain followed almost instantaneously by bright blue skies and blazing sun.
Another disgracefully lazy day on the beach and then back to our cottage, and into the pool! We're getting lots of books read, though, so at least our minds aren't turning to mush yet!
