SURF Awards - Oban Phoenix Cinema

A busy day of interviewing followed by a rush through to Glasgow for the SURF Awards presentation. A really enjoyable night, with great company & inspiring stories of communities leading regeneration in villages, towns & cities across Scotland. Great to see excellent creative projects, like the Birks Cinema in Aberfeldy & Oban Phoenix Cinema shortlisted in categories other than the Creativity in Regeneration category. Oban Phoenix Cinema are pictured here after winning the best practice in Community Led Regeneration. The Portal in Govan won the Creativity in Regeneration award, from a strong shortlist of the Big Noise Orchestra in the Raploch and the Roanheads Public Art project. Such fantastic work from all.

Also impressive was two wins for Orkney in other categories - for Stromness & Orkney Micro Renewables. Lots of competition but an overall sense of communities working together in their place to change lives.

Uplifting evening.
