Looks like you hit the tree James

A roller coaster of emotions today.

Started off at Torrey pines Hilton for 4th interview for sales position. Really nice place (pictured) overlooking the PGA golf course. Many years ago as a boy my dad and I would play links 3.0 on the PC and hack and chip our way around the same virtual course. When you used to hot one into the trees it used to say "looks like you hit the tree Jim". Good memories.

Anyway the interview with the head sales rep went well. He was originally from Holyhead and his dad studied chemistry at Manchester uni. Small world. He said he could see me progressing rapidly in the company as my hands on skill set is exactly what they need. I should hear something next week as to offer or not.

Back to work and a progressive if normal day in the lab.

However got hit by a bombshell this afternoon as a good mate from secondary school messaged me to tell me another of our friends (James) had commuted suicide yesterday. Unexpected, shocking and so sad. It definitely rocked me some.

This evening was the lab holiday party. Wasn't really in the mood for joviality and sat on the table with the boss as we arrived late. The wife was wearing her rings and I noticed towards the end his wife spotted them and made a remark to my boss. The cat may be out of the bag as we kept him in the dark for reasons I won't go into. Let's hope it's not too soon....
