Time for that story again..
“But you were always a good man of business, Jacob,' faltered Scrooge, who now began to apply this to himself.
Business!' cried the Ghost, wringing its hands again. "Mankind was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were, all, my business. The deals of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!”
― Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol
At the start of December every year, I read this most excellent of stories. It never fails to please, to remind, to nurture and warn me of the pitfalls of a life of selfishness. I sit in the warmth of the coffee shop and huddle round my steaming beverage and am ever thankful for my talents and good fortune.
It gives me joy to read of a souls redemption, how it is within us all to save ourselves if we have a mind to.
So, don't forget to smile as you do your Xmas shopping...you could be much worse off you know!
