Christmas Tree in Brisbane
Had a lovely lie in this morning and then munched a huge bowl of different cereal before Duncan drove me into Eumundi. Met Carla in her super cool black Beatle. We dumped everything in her room in her flat/house she lives in for Uni. It is such an Australian little house with the stilts and the way it looks. We got a bus into the city. It was super super warm...really humid. Went into the centre of the city and browsed all of the shops. We went to the opening of topshop. Everyone there seemed a little excited! We tried on a crazy pink puffy dress and took some funny pictures! They were taking Instagram pictures in the shop so we got one taken and printed by them and then put on the wall. For lunch we went to a funny almost canteen Indian place. The food was really good though. Headed back by bus to the house and it started to completely pour it down. So we got completely soaked when running from the bus to the house...I recovered a very close slip! We went to pick up Carla's flat mate at uni. She was holding a baby bird. She has been given it by a cyclist who asked her to look after it as he had found it whilst cycling. Back at their house we found a box for it and put tea towel down with water and a little bit of sugar. We then put a tea towel over the top and a put a lamp on. They fussed over it a little too much! We then drove this bird now called Hamish which I nick named 'Hameyboy' to the vet so a care taker can take care of it until it gets better. We had to write down which tree it fell out off...etc. Bit ridiculous! We then walked to a vintage market which is right next to their house. It was super cool and we got free wine and nibbles! Could have bought lots of things for Christmas presents. Got back before it poured it down for the second time. They both went off to their meditation class whilst I sat in the house for an hour. Their lovely South African flat mate got back and she said 'oh no, my shoes' and I saw her looking over the balcony from the window. She then struggled to get inside. So I opened the door for her and she gave me masses of hugs! Firstly for opening the door and then for bringing in her shoes. She was very sweet! When the other two got back we went out to the Italian restaurant. It was the exact same to the one we went in Taiwan. You got a card and went up to order and they made the food in front of you. I got classic carbonara. We then had a wander around and got a picture in the square with the Christmas tree. We somehow got into a conversation about casinos and out here you can go to one at the age of 18 unlike us it's 21. So we decided to go to one as I have never been. We played one game one the weird little machines. I put my coin in the wrong bit and it just got stuck. So didn't get anything for my money and they had a fixing job to do later!! Went back to the house and we got out the mattress from under Carla's bed for moi to sleep.
