The Gathering

It's nice to be back and up to date again. I've missed looking at your pictures and reading about your days, even though I've only been gone a couple of days. Hope those of you on the East Coast managed to survive and stay dry.

I'm back into routine, now, after being in London for the last couple of days. Up with the wife this morning to see her off to work (don't know how she managed while I was gone!) and then on with the shopping. It was a beautiful colourful sunrise this morning, so after she'd gone, I quickly got the camera and took some shots of the birds flying over and the sparrows and starlings gathering in the hawthorn which we have at the bottom of the garden.

They tend to gather there before coming down to the feeders and it is always their first choice when a cat comes into the garden or I open the back door. We get the starlings there in the winter, but the sparrows stay all year round. It's very comforting listening to their chirpings and arguments when sitting in the garden in the summer.
