What time is it?
Our first day in Paris, and a visit to Musee D' Orsay.
One of our favourite museums. In the old converted 1900 railway station.
A fantastic building, and also the home of the Impressionist Painters, including Monet, Degas, van Gough, Gauguin, Renoir, Cezanne, Sisley, and also Toulouse Lautrec.
This photo is taken looking through the huge clock on the top floor. Look closely
and you can see Sacre Coeur in the distance. (see large)
We walked miles today!
Along the river Seine, past the Louvre, along Rue de Rivoli, into the old Market area of Les Halles, and lunch st Au Pied de Cochon .
Renowned for pigs trotters, but we had the best onion soup ever, followed by crepes flambeed in grand marnier!
On to Rue Montorgueil, and some of the best food shops in Paris.
The Queen visited Stoher in 2004, the oldest pastry shop in Paris.
They are very proud, and have postcards for sale outside the shop.
As the sun was setting we walked up the Champs Elysees, and then down Ave. Montaigne. All the trees down this very exclusive avenue ( where you could shop at Gucci, Dior, Jimmy Choo, etc.) Are decorated with white lights shaped like bunches of mistletoe.
Well we had to have a kiss!!
Made it back to the hotel.......just!
Feet and legs tired.
Managed to recover enough for dinner at night.
