Quiet, please
This is Thornton Heath library. I passed it last week and thought it was a very striking building but I was in a rush so didn't get a chance to blip it. This morning I was in the same neck of the woods and had a little bit more time so I stopped to photograph it.
I really like the contrast between the old and the new in this building. My sister is a librarian so I always associate libraries with her and it was nice to see that this one seems well used. She has been a great support to me over a difficult few months and has been particularly attentive over the past week for which I am very grateful. She's a brilliant person - funny, resilient and thoughtful and I'm proud and lucky to have her as a big sister.
The photo is also fitting as libraries are associated with quiet (in reality they aren't particularly of course!) and that is what I have been craving today. Today they office was so noisy that by the end of the day I felt drained from concentrating so hard on trying to block it all out. Sometimes I would like to be able to put the world on mute. But, that's my griping over. It's Friday and I have wine so things aren't so bad!
