Oh Deer!

This evening we tootled off to the garden club AGM and social in the day centre, down in the village. They've really gone to town with their decorations. As well as Santa and a couple of snowmen, the deer, some geese and the sledging children there was a huge nativity scene inside complete with wonderfully exotic looking wise men, who seem to have arrived rather early.

Unfortunately Dr Zhivargo was showing in the village hall so the garden club had a bit of competition and, combined with the snowy icy conditions, it meant that the turn out was somewhat less than was hoped for. On the plus side there were lots of home bakes and mulled wine and we won a candle complete with a wick trimmer in the raffle and, more importantly, avoided being voted onto the committee!

Did a mammoth amount of baking today, biscuits and buns, some for us, some for the social and some to sell tomorrow at the bazaar. There is still s bit of snow about, not deep but definitely crisp, a lovely frosty day. Ollie and I made the most of it and had three short walks, the heat in the kitchen got a bit much for both of us! He had a dip in his favourite muddy pool, which had a sheen of ice on it, then rolled in the snow to dry himself off! He then hurtled round and round in circles, high as a kite; he loves the snow as much as I do!

The mad looking chap in the background is Ken, our treasurer! He's from Liverpool, enough said . . . !
