Fernwarme

Plan A was to visit the Schloss Schonbrunn. A tip for travellers: If you are ever in Vienna on a December Saturday and fancy a trip to see this majestic palace of the Hapsburg Empire, don't. The place was so crowded we couldn't get a ticket to enter within 2 hours of arriving. The gardens were pleasant, as was the Apple Strudel.

As an alternative, being a genuine seeker after cultural delights, I visited the Fernwarme - a municipal rubbish incinerator. But what a tremendous building - designed by Herr Hundertwasser (see yesterday's blip.) The colours and details and eccentricities were such fun.

Later, after lunch back in the City Centre (Wiener Schnitzel, obviously) I took a walk along the Danube Canal to view the spectacular street art.
