Bless the Children
The first clue that we have reached our destination was an army truck parked right by the entrance of the covered basketball court. People were walking around stacks of boxes filled with food and water. At the far end of the court was a long table of elderly women chopping onions, garlic, veggies and meat to make huge batches of " pancit " ( stir-fried rice noodles ) for lunch. Right next to them were a couple of men demonstrating to the onlookers how to assemble eco-stoves. Completely made out of clay and wood-fired, a few hundred of these were donated to typhoon Haiyan victims living in the tiny fishing village of Cadiz Viejo.
While all was abuzz, these beautiful children who were seemingly unaware of the goings-on, were playing around the court and more than willing to have their photos taken with the eco-stove.
Bless the children for their smiles
Bless them for their gift of wonder
