Friends reunited

Today I travelled on the 'Capital Streak' from London Kings Cross to York, hauled on the return leg by LNER A4 No 4664 BITTERN. This was the last of 3 special runs on the British Rail network to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Mallards 3rd of July 1938 world speed record for a steam locomotive.

Whilst in York we visited the National Railway Museum where 2 of the class, Dwight D Eisenhower and Dominion of Canada are both on display alongside Mallard having been temporarily repatriated from the US and Canada respectively in order to join in the celebrations.
