Cardiff Bay

Taken on Sunday afternoon, looking out at the bay.
In the distance the high headland on the right separates Cardiff from Penarth. The low-lying artificial barrage to the left has made the bay non-tidal, with a constant depth of water.
That's a great change from how it was before, as the rise and fall of the tide in this area is amongst the biggest in the world.
Sea locks let boats sail in and out of the Bristol Channel. The locks operate at specific intervals every day, but a fish race in the barrage allows fish in and out at all times.
