The Rhine after Lunch

As I explained yesterday, we were in Mainz for the Symposium The Anthropocene held to honour Paul Crutzen;s 80th birthday. The Symposium took place in the Kurfürstliches Schloss (Electoral Palace), by the banks of the Rhine. It was a lovely sunny day, and we were able to take a most pleasant stroll along the banks after lunch.

The lecture hall itself was an impressive place. Frames 52–65 of my gallery show some of the afternoon lecturers, culminating in the last of these frames with Paul himself responding.
