United Nations

It didn't feel right to visit Geneva without making a trip to look around the United Nations based here. It was interesting to compare the security here to our visits to some of the government buildings in Washington D.C earlier this year. It felt like nobody was really interested it in and you were left to navigate yourself to the visitors centre. We were then given orange lanyards to mark us as visitors and the tour soon started. The building were not as smart as I was expecting and it was really quiet. Our tour lasted about an hour and showed a few of the main chambers. I had been looking forward to seeing the Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room to see the amazing ceiling it has. It was also interesting to see the Palace of Nations and hear a little of the history.

This evening we have eaten one of the best meals I have ever had. We found a little Italian restaurant just around the corner from the hotel called La Favola. We both had the special which was a rack of lamb in herbs with mashed potato and black truffle. It was a meal to savour every mouthful and the potato was so creamy and like noting I ever had before. We then had chocolate fondant and a large glass of Muscat. A perfect evening!
