Zumbo-mania
What a nice day today was! So nice that I got sunburnt while I was out in all the lovely sunshine. Trust me...
As has been the norm for the past week or two, I woke up really early this morning and therefore managed to run several errands before 10:30. A few weeks ago I might not even have been awake by that point, so I think that's a good sign for my sleep health or whatever. I'd been planning on having brunch with Divya and her friends but I woke up so early that I ended up getting hungry and having breakfast at home, so I went and met the others in South Yarra once they'd finished.
We decided to go to Zumbo's and even though the brunch-goers said they were super full, we managed to demolish a box of 12 macarons between five people. A solid effort, I feel. The Christmas range is out and so we got exciting flavours such as toasted marshmallow (so good), Christmas pudding and candy cane (which I didn't try). Yum. After Zumbo's we went and visited Julia at her new job at T2 on Chapel Street, and then just had a mooch around the shops for a bit.
The actual aim of the day was to go to Albert Park and watch an ultimate frisbee tournament that Divya's friend is competing in - I haven't been to Albert Park for years, so I'm quite impressed we got from South Yarra to Albert Park (via the Prahran Market) with minimal fuss. I have to admit that I had no clue ultimate frisbee was an actual thing, but it was a very impressive set-up with about 400 people playing. We basically lounged in the sun and cheered when Lisa (Divya's friend) did something. It got super hot just sitting there, so after a while we headed off (not before I got sunburnt though!).
This evening I went to see Catching Fire with Liv and Julia. It's been ages since I read the book and I barely remember the first movie, but all my feelings about the series came rushing back as I watched it and, surprise surprise, I definitely cried several times. It's actually such a good film - I want to see it again but maybe not in public!
I'm not sure what Steph's thought process was when I took this photo, but I'm sure it was something like, "Do I eat this macaron first...or this one?" Although I'd planned on using a frisbee photo for today's blip, I liked this one too much!
