Michs memoirs

By mdemaat

This morning I went with my aunt and the two girls to their school's Christmas market. We walked around, checking the stalls and I then went to watch a nativity film with my youngest cousin. There was a 'scary' part though, so she grabbed my knee and hid her head in my scarf and whispering 'is it finished?'

I got some revision done in the afternoon, and then went with my aunt to buy a Christmas tree. It must have been a funny sight trying to fit a Christmas tree about twice the size of me into a relatively small car. But we managed nevertheless!

In the evening I then went to meet a group of friends to go see the 'fete des lumiéres'. Its a huge festival with lights in Lyon, which attracts about 3 million people to the city every year. The festival originated from when Lyon was saved from a plague that hit the city in 1643.

We went around different squares where different clips were displayed on building walls, music was played, and there was firework. We had mulled wine, danced about to some band playing their trumpets, horns, and saxephones loudly in the streets, and sang songs as we walked from one place to another. Though there were times where we could no longer move because of the crowds, the atmosphere was still great and enjoyable.
