The Great Spotted Woodpecker.

Jan did my hair this morning ,so i am all glamourous for Christmas. After she had gone we decided to go to Parc Slip, again. We went into the coffee shop first and i had a gingerbread hot chocolate with mini marshmallows on the top, and J had an americano. While we were sitting there looking out over the pond we saw the elusive Kingfisher. It was the first time i have ever seen one. He was only there for a few seconds and he flew away. After we had finished our drinks we went outside with our cameras and i managed to take this photograph of an adult female Great Spotted Woodpecker. ( Dendrocopos major) I had to zoom right out to get this shot as i was afraid she would be gone. We went for a walk around the reserve but it's a grey day and there wasn't much else doing. We went into the hide and saw lots of ducks on the water but they were much too far away. When i got home i was able to identify the Woodpecker by using my new British Birds Book. I am learning so much due to blipping and that can't be bad.
