I spent a few hours up at the Merchants of Edinburgh Golf club, though not for reasons of hitting a small white defenseless ball with a series of long sticks but it was the venue for my friends son H’s 18th Birthday bash, the reason it was in the afternoon was that he was going to a ball in the evening. His girlfriend goes to a school which has these events at Chrastmastide.

I’ve known H since he was wrapped in swaddling and he’s been planted in a grow-bags every night so he now towers over his mum and dad and most of his family.

T’was a nice afternoon (and evening) spent in convivial company.
