The Great Surge #ryeharbour
This picture is more for a record of what happened more than anything else. over the weekend a lot of damage and some poor souls even had to watch as their homes slipped into the Sea. We in Rye on the other hand got away very lightly. The only real damage was to the road going up to the beach in the nature reserve. The road was built in 1947 by German POW's out of concrete slabs these have been ripped up by the surge and high tide on Friday/ Saturday causing flooding on the salt marsh but I suppose thats what salt marsh are for. As you can see lots of other potential Blipers out doing the same as me but of course I was pointing towards the Sun with lots of wet surfaces around, not the best way to take a pic.
