Slow curry and bookgroup

Having deliberated over the weekend, I opted for an old tried and tested recipe from Delia Smith - Beef Curry with Whole Spices. Beef shopping at George Bower's in Stockbridge. I didn't find out the name of the beast the steak came from, but by the time I'd left the shop I knew the name, date of birth and plans for his birthday celebrations of the butcher who served me. Local shopping at its best. Dessert was conconcted from the foraged brambles and apples which I froze in the autumn. And the reason for all this activity: Book Group this evening. Reading 'Teach Us to Sit Still' by Tim Parks. Interesting read, one which would not have been chosen without book group.
