City landmark

I had a day trip to Manchester for an Enterprise Educators UK board meeting. It was a very long day, but worth it as I always enjoy meeting my EEUK colleagues. I snapped a picture of this as I rushed to the station - a very striking building.

The train journey to Preston to get my connection back to Glasgow was quite an experience. I had booked a seat, but I was lucky to even get onto the train as I had to force my way in by brute force. I couldn't even get to anything to hang onto, but as we were packed like sardines there was no chance of falling over. Other passengers were remarkably friendly and good natured and told me that the train was usually like that. Having stood for the hour long journey, I missed my connection at Preston (it should have been a 40 minute journey!). Fortunately I got on the next train, and got a seat too. Virgin West Coast is pretty good, at least on the northern part of the line.
