Two minds
One of our local garden centres has opened a birds and animals section. These are a few of the cage birds currently for sale.
I feel very much in two minds about this market in birds, for although some have undoubtedly been bred in captivity, others, such as the zebra finches, will probably have been trapped in the wild and I strongly disapprove of that trade.
It is possible that the entire market in birds ultimately depends upon and encourages the taking of wild birds - thus depleting their populations in their countries of origin.
Bit of a moral dilemma.
I would never encourage the trade by purchasing any.
Birds should fly free.
