In the studio.
Here is Laura, checking out what Thom is recording. Today Thom and I were running ever so slightly late this morning, mainly because of a certain incident with a mandolin string…
So Thom decided it would be a good idea to start restringing his mandolin about fifteen minutes before we needed to be at the recording studio. Of course, one of this strings decided to snap while he was retuning it, snapping the other in return. Cue a return to the music shop to beg them for some new ones, since it was obviously the string that was defective, not the method. Luckily they were completely cool with it and gave us a replacement, but that did mean that we had to pretty much run to make sure we got to the studio on time and didn’t lose it! We were soon joined by Laura, who was helping run the recording session with me. To tell you a little about Laura, she is a choreographer doing her degree at the university, and she is doing a collaborative module with Thom, he is composing the music for her dance routine. So obviously she wants it right too, so we spent a lot of time making sure that the music matched the ideas, and vice versa.
Lovely afternoon had by all in the end, and nice to spend time getting to know Laura a little better. Chilled out evening, didn't do too much which was nice. Pretty much played around with arranging some songs, and singing along to Thom's guitar. Nice to not have to do a lot.
