'The Melbourne International Gateway'
Or better known locally as 'The Ribcage' & 'The Cheesestick' (which is obscured in this shot). The sticks represent the wheat industry of Australia, while the golden cheesestick represents the Victorian gold rush era.
As you leave the airport and head along Citylink towards the CBD you head underneath the cheesestick, an enormous yellow pillar tilted precariously over the traffic passing below.
I have wanted to photograph this for a while, but it's not in the easiest spot for pedestrians to get too, so I headed out very early this morning to shoot it before the traffic was very heavy and to capture the lighting while it was still dark. This was the very last image I shot, just as the sun was rising at about 5:15am.
A very early blip for me today.
