Mac is Back!
We are dog sitting once again for Mac. He has made quite an impression on his first day here. He was in the house no longer than an hour when he left us a nice little ‘deposit’ on the family room floor! I guess he was letting us know he was not happy about being left behind this time. I took him out in the yard and let him pee all over the gargoyles and then he seemed happier.
Sometime after lunch, he started barking like crazy and I thought he must need to go out so I put on his leash and opened the back door. Well, he pulled so hard on the leash that I was slipping and sliding across the snowy lawn until we were within two feet of six deer! I did not even see them until I was right up close. Mac was going crazy barking at them and they just stood there looking at him as if he was crazy. I pulled him back a little after I caught my breath and one of the deer started to move a little further away towards the yard next to mine. This made Mac bark even more and he was pulling so hard I thought my arm was going to fall off.
After the first deer started to move, the six of them split up and half went into one neighbor’s yard and half into the others. This was a smart move on their part since Mac could not decide which way to go. I was able to get him back nearer the house but the deer stood their ground for quite some time not wanting to move. They were feasting on my evergreens and shrubs so I wanted Mac to have more of an impression on them but they did not seem fazed by him. Poor Mac. His ego must have taken a little bit of a beating with all that barking and no results. All I can say is it was a good thing he was on the leash!
In my Blip Mac is basking in the sunlight on the sofa after all his hard work trying to get those deer out of my yard.
