A day in the Chilterns

A new area of England has been discovered! For me, anyway. Today was my first visit to the Chiltern hills, and there was glorious sunshine for hours. Fred and I took the train to Tring (what a wonderful name) then walked to the Bridgewater Monument. This monument (in the blip) was built in memory of the fella who commission the Grand Union Canal. We ended our journey by walking along the canal at Tring - a fine watery spot it is, too. However, I'm getting ahead of myself... After climbing the Monument and gazing out at the views, we walked through the forest to the Beacon. On the way, we startled a group of fallow deer, which swiftly sprung away from us. At the Beacon, we watched a group of men launch model gliders, which rose with the upcurrents, gliding along the breeze in company with a couple of red kites.

All in all a perfect day with sunshine, good company and autumnal colours. Lovely!
