Oh shortbread tree, oh shortbread tree

These are the beginnings of my contributions to works 'Advent Appertisers' for the month of December.

They are my first attempt at making shortbread, and sadly they have slightly expanded in oven.. any suggestions on how to stop this would be gratefully appreciated!
