“Here, take a picture of me hugging this tree”
The project was on a mini-break last week, mainly due to sickness and some pressing work issues.
Anyway, I was back out on the street of Leeds today where I found a covered marquee on the high street, and decided to venture in to have a nosy.
Mainly arts and crafts type stalls - little gifts for the undecided Xmas shopper. I spotted Dave on my first walk around, and made a note to talk to him when I came back round, which I did. He was selling various items including these handmade intricate Chinese doll figures and of course these wooden sculptures (I think they were called tree-huggers but I may be wrong).
He decided to pose himself with one of them when I asked him for a picture - Dave had a wicked humorous side which he showed through in his expressions. His expressions were only second to those of the sculptures - aren't they great? :)
Later, he told me how he had got hold of the dolls from a supplier who wouldn't let him sell them before a certain date as a certain department store wanted exclusivity. I asked him if it was OK to photograph them and put it online.
He replied jokingly, “Yeah, go on, I like to live dangerously!"
