Great spotted woodpecker

This was caught in a friends mist net strung up in the back garden. She is qualified to do this (a permit is required by law) and ring them. While I was there we caught several starlings and a pigeon. very interesting to see how it's all done. The birds do not suffer at any stage of the process.
