Another day another bird!

I'm a little bit more enthused by my bird picture today as it is a woodpecker. We hear them quite often in the trees in the summer, but as far as I know they never come into the gareden. Although it has merged with the fence in the background, it does have some bright red plumage on its tail. It was initially seen holding onto the tree trunk log which supports a bird house in the garden. I got great shots of its tail, but not of its head. It may be desperate for food as today is particularly stormy and the tree tops may be more dangerous than usual.
Due to the stormy conditions, I haven't gone for my Saturday walk - and we're having guests tonight so I have been busy cooking.
