Pig's brains with scrambled egg

What was food like in a medieval Christmas?

Well, we got to see a sample this afternoon in Stirling castle where as part of their festivities they laid out a table which Bob, the historical interpreter, said was the “grazing table” which included a pigs head.

One delicacy he says was pig’s brains with scrambled egg.

“People would graze at this table before moving on later to the main banquet which included 7 courses.”
And what would that be?

“Mutton, mutton and more mutton, ribs, boiled, roasted prepared by their French cooks each with a different sauce.”

And this little boy couldn’t resist touching the pig’s nose to see if it was real. It wasn’t.
