Very wet walk
Went on a walk with friends today round the villages of Ayot St Lawrence and Kimpton in Hertfordshire. Ayot St Lawrence was home to George Bernard Shaw, and his house (which is National Trust) is well worth a visit, although closed today. At the furthest point of the walk the heavens opened and we got drenched and very muddy walking across the fields. We must have looked quite a sight when we turned up (late) at the pub, The Brocket Arms, for an excellent lunch. This building is the 'new' church in the village; the old church was partially demolished by the local landowner in 1775 because it blocked his view, and the ruin is still there.
