Hotel in historic building
This is the hotel we stayed in last night, a historical housing estate, the 'Van Acker-Peeters Courtyard', one of the many courtyard estates in the medieval town of Lier, between Antwerp and Belgium. To be honest, I had never heard of this town before, but it houses no less than two Unesco World Heritage sites: The Beguinage (special courtyard housing for beguins, spinsters and widows living under the protection of the church) and Lier's Belfry tower , built in 1369! I'm working on my Facebook album (now up without captions) about this lovely little town, more pictures will be added later. A colour version of today's Blip image can be found here.
Thanks so much for your comments on yesterday's Blip, even when I couldn't comment on your Blips (we only got back in the hotel after 1 am, Belgian dinners are great but they last very long!) I'll try to catch up now, but it may take until tomorrow morning !
