Rose hips
Not just any old Dog Rose hips these, but another special plant found at the nature reserve. I'm fairly sure this is Rosa tomentosa, Harsh Downy-rose, listed as 'scarce' in the county. It was recorded for the area back in the 1960s, but not recorded again definitively until now. The stiff hairs on the hips and the stems shown here and the shape of the prickles (not shown) point to two closely-related species, with this one the most likely, so I'm hoping my identification will turn out to be correct.
