shielding it from the light - which is what all grand hats were/are - meant to do - they are usually big - bold - outrageous - we are not known so much for them here - although hats were more of a "thing" back in the day - my grandmother had many - they were of the smaller variety - the sort that kind of laid upon her head - some had these tiny veils - which came down - just so - over her face - all mysterious - i think hats are fabulous - they can totally make an outfit - add attitude as well as personality - we should wear more of them - and call it...
