Friday the 13th

Far from this being an unlucky day, I saw a swell of Chicago Fire Fighters and Police Officers at Gate K5, right next to my departure gate.

I went over to see all the commotions and spotted two Firefighters holding a banner saying 'Welcome homecoming to our troops'. A very touching gesture for these lads to see when they get off the plane.

I happened to be standing next to a Dad whose friends were saying 'He'll be coming through any minute now!'. The Dad replied ' I know, but he's going to get a shock when he sees me because he doesn't know I'm here'. A few moments later a stream of young men came through the door, met in kind by a huge eruption of applause.

Then I heard 'Look, it's him!'. The young man didn't hear such words due to the noise of the air passengers, onlookers and service men, but he saw his father approach him. The look on his eyes. I tell you, it was hard not to shed a tear when they hugged each other.

Great way to leave Chicago.
