Happy Birthday Matt
The gentlemen enjoying lunch at Bills & a few Birthday bevvies in honour of our good pal Spikey.
Jenny, Matt & myself had a lovely chilled morning. We watched an interesting film called 2-Headed Shark Attack, '1 Body, 2 Heads & 6,000 Teeth!'.. I know, wow right!? Calling it a b-movie would be an understatement. It saw Carmen Electra & Brooke Hogan put in career defining performances, which they will undoubtedly wish to never, ever speak of. Popcorn Pictures is reported to have said it was 'a predictably terribly film...' & I don't think we'll be quick to disagree. But I digress, if you've got two hours to spare that you won't resent ever seeing again, you could watch this. You can quote that!
After the excitement of the morning, we three made our way into a drizzly Guildford centre, a real joy for us as we remember it so fondly. We made for the cover of the shops in search of Chirstmas jumpers, but finding very little in the way of tasteful festive wear, & much in the way of vanilla sugar pretzels (so good!), we ducked into the Three Pigeons for a sharpener before lunch. Ben & Pazza (far left & far right in the above) for a drink shortly after, & then it was onto Bills to meet the rest of the crew (including Jon, middle right above). We had a lovely meal & although slightly begrudginly, I think Matt had a great Birthday celebration. He also really loved his Jenny-made chocolate cake, complete with icing Kong figure sitting on top (which he proceeded to decapitate when the cake was cut!). A few of us had a little drinky & a rest at Five & Lime before we all went our separate ways.
We had promised Matt we'd help him jump start his 2 litre beast of a car, & so in the grim, dreary weather, we assembled in the car park. Jenny sat behind the wheel, & Matt & me heaved the car backwards & forwards, & we just couldnt get it going. We tried the jump leads & my puny 1 litre wouldn't even start, & so sadly we had to give up. Not words any of us utter lightly.
A great weekend & as always, a real joy to spend it with a great friend.
Happy Birthday brother.
