Tiny signs of growth

Prompted by a blip this morning of tiny tips of bulbs coming through in someone's garden, I decided to take a look around mine when it had stopped raining this morning.

It has been very mild but apart from the French lavender I mentioned last week, there was very little sign of Spring growth yet.

Till I spotted this. It is the first sign of a flower on the Witch hazel or hamamelis. To be fair it does flower in January but is nice to see this first tiny petal (or bract) coming through.
