Loch Shiel from Glenfinnan Tower
Gloomy, overcast day, waiting for the Jacobite steam train at Glenfinnan viaduct. The first thing I noticed was the fence then the light reflecting off the water, with the diagonal shapes of the mountains behind.
I've cropped to simplify the image and chose to finish in b&w because that's how I saw it in camera...a grey day with a splash of light. The Exif data doesn't show it, but I used a Nikon 300mm lens, which gave a 2x crop factor on the Panny GH2 (ie a 600mm lens). This is why the foreground and background have been compressed. Personally, I think it enhances the geometric shapes formed by the mountains, the light on the water and the fence.
