Walt Whitman is regarded as one of America's most significant poets of the 19th century. He is was born on Long Island. He published "Leaves of Grass" in 1855 where he celebrated democracy, nature, love and friendship.

Our recently renovated mall was renamed Walt Whitman Mall in his honor and the statue of Walt Whitman is today's Blip.
