Shaken, not stirred...

Super Duper Star Student.... Again.

Today's blip entry was going to be something very different, and ranty because today had just been one of THOSE days.
Then this happened.
Very proud little dude this afternoon after receiving Student Of The Week award for the second time in a few weeks.
I'm a very proud mum, too.
The pain caused by today was undone the instant I saw the glowing, smiling face at pick up time, and the surprise in his voice for getting awarded again. It is wonderful that he has been chosen as student of the week for the second time in a few weeks, but I do love the fact it is partly for "his cheerful attitude". Things have been particularly bad for us this year, but somehow he just keeps being a very cheerful little boy. His cheerful nature is contagious. But mostly, the joy he felt for being recognised again is what made me smile most. He does get a bit down in the dumps thanks to many of the other kids being dreadful and picking on him for anything and everything - he's a year younger, he's little, he talks differently (he has an astounding lexicon and enunciates his words beautifully), he is not overly interested in the typical boy things, and he is the kid who cares about everyone else. He knows that the other kids are just being silly and what they say shouldn't matter... But he can't help but take things to heart when they are said enough, especially with all the chaos filling our lives. Knowing that the people who really matter - the teachers - think he is a brilliant little boy has definitely been a much needed confidence boost.
