Todays blip show what was once an everyday sight along the canals a load winch there are still some knocking around I see one as you go down the Runcorn expressway but the place is locked up way from the nearest road so took this one whilst at the Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port, the boat behind is a concrete boat built in 1944 in Barrow-In Furness due to the steel shortage the problem being it was heavy and brittle so the tug men on the Manchester Ship Canal were glad to get rid of them in the end
