Todays or even tonight's blip is taken from Anderton Boat lift which is painted black so not much to see there then - so looking across the river to the old ICI Winnington work now owned by TATA who this week are going to announce @ 220 job losses at this and the Lostock site due to increased energy costs and the small fact they have tried to arrange for a rubbish burning power plant but no one wants to take the chance of signing contracts with them when they haven't even built the power plant yet doh!
The plant lit up in the middle is the bicab (bicarbonate of soda or NaHCO3) 101 uses but most of us know it as the Alka Setzer stuff, fire extinguishers, cooking powders, cattle feed
They make it using the Solvay process - Sodium chloride, Ammonium and Carbon dioxide in water surprising what you remember from years back
