The Little Palace and The Moon Above

Visiting in the city today, builded the christmas tree to my mum. On the way home this shot gaught my eye. Unfortunately only the pocket camera with me, but of course that is better than nothing...

The Little Palace is really worth to see! It is build by first superintendent of Finlayson textile and garment factory named Christian Bruun, as he wanted for himself and a "suitable" apartment. So he commissioned in 1897 architect Frederik Thesleff from Vasa Finland to make the plans and drawings for the "Little new-renaisance palace". Interiors were finally commissioned also in the 1897, and at the end five rooms of the palace were renowned and build by Louis Sparre, who had just set up in Porvoo Art Nouveau furniture producing and was influenced by the Englishman William Morris and his medieval-style interior. English William Finch, who was known for tile and ceramic vessels as a designer, made the billiards room with fireplace. Very beautiful indeed.

So Sparre planned celebration room on the middle floor and a sauna, and billiard room floor to downstairs - with beautiful decorative paneling on walls and ceilings. They are now all preserved in almost to their original form and are visible in Little Palace today. These fixed parts of the interior of the building are historically so valuable, that they are protected by the town plan nowadays.

You see, there was many phases after the superintendent Bruun... First "The Little Palace" was divided into two apartments of Finlayson factory managers residences until the 1980's .
In 1982 the building was converted to Canon office rooms : the walls were installed whitewashed glass fiber fabrics and the basement was built machine maintenance facilities. (Just thinks about that!) The building was still in commercial use, as it's current owners Seppo and Leila Parhankangas visited there for the first time in the autumn of 1998 .

In 2001 the building was sold to new owner couple as Seppo and Leila Parhankangas bought it. They fully renovated it to it's former clory and founded "the Pikkupalatsi Ltd" , since 2006.
Today the palace leases two lower floors of the palace banquet:there can be held small conferences or concerts and sauna sessions, as well as organized tours (into which I have visited too). The uppest floor is private floor of the owners.

Really marvellous interior now, as it is really now fully renovated.
Here is some extraordinary shots of it's renovation!

I really hope you liked to study the gallery of the "Little Palace" and liked it as I did!

Also I like to thank for very many comments and stars to The Narkissos statue yesterday! So very kind of you ;)
